When I was 16 years old I started working at McDonald's to have something to do in the summer when I was out of school. I worked every summer until I graduated. I decided that while I was out of school I would go full time just until I found something better. Before I knew it, I was in training to be a manager. At 19 years old I was a shift manager at the #1 store in our company at the time. By the time I was 21 years old I was given my own store. I have been working very hard in this position so hopefully my next "I" story will have a new position to add to it.

 

 
My name is Claudia Tejeda. I am 20 years old. I am really proud of working at McDonald's and not just because it is offering me a career but also because it makes you important no matter your ethnity, sex, age, language, color or education. It gives you an opportunity to succeed as a professional. I started working at McDonald's during one of my summer vacations. I noticed that this job was something for me. I felt like my job was a second home. After I graduated from High School I decided to apply for manager. Having two years of experience as a crew member helped me learn many things and desire to go much further. After all these years of working for McDonald's and with every day's tasks, I have learned how to treat people.

I have been a manager for a year now. During this time, my entire life has changed in many different ways. For example, I want to keep growing in knowledge. My goals now are to become a supervisor, an owner of several stores or even a teacher at the Hamburger University at Chicago. It has also changed my habits, my abilities, and it has improved my skills. Being a manager for McDonald's makes you feel that you can do better every single day. I have become more responsible and organized and not just my work but my life. I am also the People Promise Manager at my store, which lets me work with my skills on art by decorating the crew room depending on holidays, birthdays, or store events.
